Help Portrait {Central Virginia Portrait Photographer}
I found the Charlottesville Photography Initiative a couple weeks ago and joined. I figure it’s a great way to build my skills, network with those who are in the business (and truly know the business) and meet new people!
Friday the group is having a training session about doing model portraits. I really, really wish I could attend this but it’s my weekend with the kids and I just can’t justify it at this time. I hope to be able to attend the group’s next training event!
I will be at the group’s Help Portrait event Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011. I’m volunteering all day as an assistant (and whatever else they need me to do), bringing my camera and lighting gear, and hoping to offer a gorgeous portrait to a local family in need. This is the third year for this worldwide event. The mission is simple–find someone in need, take their portrait, print their portrait and deliver it. It’s about offering the chance at beautiful custom photography for those who might not otherwise have the chance to receive it. To me, this is beautiful.
I hope I have the chance to share some of the stories and events from that day. I’m not sure on the rules, and of course I’d need permission from the participants, but to me this is just something I wanted to dedicate the entire day to helping.
What a wonderful gift you’ll be giving that family. That is such a great idea.
