A Perfect Summer Evening {Ruckersville Photographer}
Sometimes you’re sitting there in a moment and you realize it’s a perfect moment. With that realization comes giddiness, followed by a bit of melancholy. I know that I start thinking, will there ever be another perfect moment like this again? I suppose it’s a wonderful thing to realize a lovely moment when you’re right in the middle of it. I had one of those moments earlier this month.
The kids and I decided to spend a Saturday night watching the Perseid meteor shower. This comes every August. I’ve woken the kids up in the middle of the night to watch it before when the were younger. This time we set out our lounge chairs in the backyard, set up a tent, made s’mores and just enjoyed each other’s company.
This is a rare event. My children are now 14 and 12–how many more of these nights will I have before they go off to college and move on with their own lives? I already share them with their father so my time with them is limited in that way. I am so blessed we spent that night together. I didn’t have a tripod to try to photograph these meteors, but there is always next year! It’s a date!
Before the falling stars, though, we had a mini photo session and BOTH kids were interested in it. I love that! We played with some of my vintage props too!
