Welcome to Charlottesville!
I was asked to create a cover for The Daily Progress’ annual Welcome magazine. The goal was to create something different than we’ve had in the past and something that says “Charlottesville!” Unfortunately, the University of Virginia Board of Visitors decided to fire the president of the university and students and community protested. It was quite an event! But that meant I could not photograph anything on The Lawn. Big sigh. So I borrowed my children, and their step siblings and went to The Downtown Mall. None of these were chosen but I still loved them! I made a large print of the one with just my daughter and son both holding the “welcome” sign and put it in my entry way. I really loved it. The kids were real troopers as we were fighting the rain, too. No complaints from them though–love that!
